Switching Between Apps

In this tutorial, we will learn how to switch between apps on various devices and operating systems. Whether you're using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, knowing how to efficiently switch between apps can greatly enhance your multitasking capabilities. We'll cover the steps for switching between apps on different platforms, including iOS, Android, and Windows. Let's get started!

Switching Between Apps on iOS (iPhone and iPad)

  1. Using the Home Gesture:

    • On devices with a Home button (iPhone 8 and older), quickly press the Home button twice to open the App Switcher.
    • On devices without a Home button (iPhone X and newer), swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle to open the App Switcher.
    • Swipe left or right to navigate between the open apps, then tap the desired app to switch to it.
  2. Using the App Switcher Button:

    • On devices with a Home button, double-press the Home button to open the App Switcher.
    • On devices without a Home button, swipe up from the bottom and pause slightly in the middle to reveal the App Switcher.
    • Scroll through the app thumbnails horizontally and tap the one you want to switch to.
  3. Using Gesture Navigation (iPhone X and newer):

    • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to go to the home screen.
    • Pause with your finger slightly above the bottom edge to view the App Switcher.
    • Swipe left or right to navigate between the open apps, then tap the desired app to switch to it.

Switching Between Apps on Android

  1. Using Recent Apps/Overview button:

    • On most Android devices, tap the Recent Apps button (it looks like a square or an overlapping rectangle) located at the bottom of the screen. It may be a physical or virtual button.
    • Swipe left or right to scroll through the open apps.
    • Tap the app thumbnail you want to switch to.
  2. Using Gesture Navigation (Android 10 and newer):

    • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold briefly to access the app overview.
    • Swipe left or right to navigate between the open apps.
    • Tap the app you want to switch to.
  3. Using the Overview (Recents) button:

    • On some Android devices, you may have an Overview (Recents) button either on the screen or as a physical button.

Switching Between Apps on Windows

  2. Using Task View:

  3. Using the Taskbar:
