How to use Windows DVD Maker for DVD creation

Windows DVD Maker is a built-in tool in Windows that allows you to create professional-looking DVDs from your videos and photos. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of using Windows DVD Maker to create your own personalized DVDs.

Prerequisites

To follow this tutorial, you will need:

  • A computer running Windows 7, 8, or 10 (Windows DVD Maker is only available in these versions)
  • Videos or photos that you want to include in your DVD
  • A blank DVD disc

Step 1: Open Windows DVD Maker

  1. Click on the "Start" button and select "Windows DVD Maker" from the list of programs.
  2. If prompted, click "Yes" to allow the program to make changes to your computer.

Step 2: Add videos and photos

  1. In the Windows DVD Maker window, click on the "Add items" button to import videos and photos from your computer.
  2. Browse to the location of your videos or photos, select them, and click "Add".
  3. To change the order of the items, select a file, and use the "Move up" or "Move down" buttons.
  4. You can also add more videos or photos by repeating this step.

Step 3: Customize DVD menu

  1. On the left side of the Windows DVD Maker window, you will find various options to customize your DVD menu.
  2. Click on the arrows next to the menu styles to preview and select a style for your DVD menu.
  3. To add a title to your DVD, enter it in the "DVD title" field.
  4. You can also customize the text font, color, and size using the options provided.
  5. If you want to change the background of the DVD menu, click on the "Menu text/background color" link and select a color or image.
  6. To add a background music to your DVD menu, check the "Play background music" box and select a music file from your computer.

Step 4: Preview and customize DVD settings

  1. Click on the "Preview" button to see how your DVD will look before burning it.
  2. If you want to make any additional changes, click on the "Customize" button.
  3. In the "Customize DVD" window, you can choose the DVD burner, aspect ratio, and video format settings.
  4. You can also set the playback options such as loop slideshow, auto-start, and add DVD-ROM content.
  5. Click on the "OK" button to save your settings and return to the main Windows DVD Maker window.

Step 5: Burn DVD

  1. Insert a blank DVD disc into your computer's DVD burner.
  2. In the Windows DVD Maker window, click on the "Burn" button.
  3. In the "Burn a Disc" window, select the DVD burner from the drop-down menu if there are multiple options.
  4. Choose the burning speed and click on the "Next" button.
  5. Windows DVD Maker will start encoding your videos and photos and then burn them to the DVD.
  6. Once the burning process is complete, you will be notified.

Congratulations! You have successfully created a DVD using Windows DVD Maker. You can now enjoy your personalized DVD on any DVD player.

Note: Windows DVD Maker does not support creating Blu-ray discs.
