How to Share Google Contacts via WhatsApp

WhatsApp is a popular instant messaging app that allows users to send text messages, make voice and video calls, and share media files. In addition to these features, WhatsApp can also be used to share Google Contacts. This can be helpful when you need to quickly send someone's contact information to a friend or colleague. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to share Google Contacts via WhatsApp.

Prerequisites

  • A smartphone or tablet with WhatsApp installed
  • Access to a Google account

Step 1: Export Google Contacts

  1. Open a web browser and go to Google Contacts.
  2. Sign in with your Google account if prompted.
  3. On the left sidebar, click on "Export".
  4. Select the contacts you want to share. You can choose specific contacts by clicking on their checkboxes, or you can select all contacts by clicking on the "Select all" checkbox at the top.
  5. Choose the export format. For sharing via WhatsApp, it is recommended to select the "Google CSV" option.
  6. Click on the "Export" button to download the CSV file to your computer or device.

Step 2: Transfer CSV file to your mobile device

  1. Connect your mobile device to your computer using a USB cable or use cloud storage services like Google Drive or Dropbox to transfer the exported CSV file to your mobile device.

Step 3: Import Google Contacts to your device's address book

  1. Open the Contacts or Phone app on your mobile device.
  2. Access the settings or options menu, usually represented by three vertical dots or lines.
  3. Look for an option like "Import Contacts" or "Import from storage" and select it.
  4. Choose the location of the CSV file. If you transferred the file using a USB cable, it might be in a folder named "Downloads" or "Transfer". If you used cloud storage, navigate to the specific folder where the file is located.
  5. Select the CSV file and confirm the import process. The contacts will be added to your device's address book.

Step 4: Share Google Contacts via WhatsApp

  1. Open WhatsApp on your device.
  2. Go to the chat where you want to share the Google Contacts.
  3. Tap on the attachment icon, usually represented by a paperclip or plus sign.
  4. Choose the "Document" option from the menu.
  5. Browse and locate the imported Google Contacts CSV file.
  6. Select the file and tap on the "Send" button.

Congratulations! You have successfully shared Google Contacts via WhatsApp. The recipient will receive the CSV file and can import the contacts into their own address book using the same steps outlined in Step 3.

Remember to always exercise caution when sharing personal information, especially via messaging apps. Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to share someone else's contact information.

Note: This tutorial is based on the latest version of WhatsApp at the time of writing. The steps may vary slightly depending on your device and the app version installed.
