Steps to Share Files and Folders

Step 1: Enable File and Printer Sharing

  2. In the Control Panel window, locate and click on Network and Sharing Center.
  3. In the Network and Sharing Center, click on Change advanced sharing settings located in the left sidebar.
  4. Under the Private network profile, ensure that the following options are selected:
    • Turn on network discovery
    • Turn on file and printer sharing
    • Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections (optional)
  5. Click Save changes to apply the settings.

Step 2: Share the Files or Folders

  1. Locate the file or folder you want to share on your Windows computer.
  2. Right-click on the file or folder and select Properties from the context menu.

  2. In the address bar, type \\<IP address of the computer sharing the files> and press Enter.
    • For example: \\192.168.0.100
    • To find the IP address of the computer sharing files, open the Command Prompt and type ipconfig. Look for the "IPv4 Address" under the network adapter connected to the local network.
  3. A window will appear with a list of shared files and folders. Double-click on the desired file or folder to access its contents.
