How to Install Windows on a New PC

Installing the Windows operating system on a new PC is a crucial step to get your computer up and running. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of installing Windows on your new PC.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • A valid Windows product key
  • A USB flash drive (min. 8GB) or an installation DVD for Windows
  • A working PC or laptop to create a bootable media

Step 1: Create a Bootable Media

To install Windows on a new PC, you need to create a bootable media. Follow these steps:

  1. Insert the USB flash drive or DVD into your working PC or laptop.
  2. Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from the official Microsoft website.
  3. Run the Media Creation Tool and select "Create installation media for another PC".
  4. Choose the desired language, edition, and architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) for your Windows installation.
  5. Select either USB flash drive or ISO file (for creating a DVD). If using a USB drive, make sure it's connected and detected by your PC.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions and wait for the tool to create the bootable media.

Step 2: Prepare Your New PC

Prepare your new PC by following these steps:

  1. Connect the bootable USB flash drive or insert the installation DVD into your new PC.
  2. Power on your PC and access the boot menu. The key to access the boot menu varies depending on your PC manufacturer (e.g., F12, Esc, or Del).
  3. Select the bootable media (USB or DVD) from the boot menu and press Enter to boot from it.

Step 3: Install Windows

Now it's time to install Windows on your new PC:

  1. Wait for the Windows Setup to load; it may take a few moments.
  2. Select your language, time format, and keyboard layout preferences, then click "Next".
  3. Click "Install Now" to begin the installation process.
  4. Enter your valid Windows product key when prompted and click "Next".
  5. Accept the license terms and click "Next".
  6. Choose "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)" as the installation type.
  7. You will see a list of available disk partitions. Select a partition to install Windows on and click "Next". Alternatively, you can create a new partition if needed.
  8. Wait for the installation process to complete. Your PC will restart multiple times during this process.
  9. Once the installation is finished, you will be prompted to set up your Windows account. Follow the on-screen instructions to personalize your settings, create a user account, and choose privacy options.

Congratulations! You have successfully installed Windows on your new PC. You can now start exploring your new operating system and installing additional software as needed.

Note: Remember to back up any important data before installing Windows, as the installation process involves formatting your hard drive.
